First Security Bank Announces Dee Ann Meyer’s Retirement

The bank in Dumont has gone through some changes. It was sold twice and had three different names in a short amount of time, becoming First Security in 2001. Like everything as time goes on, technology and the way people bank has evolved over the years. However, Dee Ann Meyer has been a constant for First Security and its customers, having worked in the same bank building in Dumont for the last 24 years.

Janna Ayers, another long-time Dumont employee, said, “We helped each other out a lot through all the changes we had to go through due to changing banks and learning new technology. We would always say how glad we were to have each other to count on.”

Dee Ann applied to work at the bank after she and her husband sold their fuel delivery company. She was excited to work in the town she was born and raised in. Throughout her banking career, Dee Ann has worked in a customer-facing role as she helped customers with day-to-day transactions and banking questions. Her favorite part of her job was meeting new customers and getting to know them as they did their banking with First Security.

Lead Retail Advisor Katie Menken said, “I’ve appreciated Dee Ann being such a friendly and familiar face to so many customers over the years. However, we look forward to her coming back to visit us at the Dumont branch to tell us about all the fun she’ll be having in retirement!”

Dee Ann is looking forward to retirement and using her extra free time for traveling. She and her husband are going to attempt the “snowbird” lifestyle—they will travel to communities in warm states during the winter and return home for summer in hopes of spending retirement in perpetual sunshine. They will use long weekends for smaller trips, and wherever they end up, she and her husband look forward to exploring the area’s bike trails. When they are in Iowa, they will enjoy spending time with their grandson, who is new to the world and Dee Ann’s first grandchild.

Dee Ann’s retirement date is December 9th. First Security will hold an open house in her honor on that day from 8:30 AM – 3 PM. Please stop by the Dumont bank then for refreshments and to wish her well in her retirement plans!
