First Security Bank Contributes $2,500 Toward Ionia Fire Department

First Security Bank recently contributed $2,500 to the Ionia Fire Department for the purchase of new protective clothing, also known as bunker gear.

The fire department, which serves Ionia and Basset and has mutual aid agreements in place with all fire departments in both Chickasaw and Floyd Counties, had been using 15-to-20-year-old gear that was no longer fitting fire fighters properly. First Security’s donation was used to help purchase 8 new sets of clothing, which will help to protect the volunteers from extreme heat, toxic smoke, and other physical hazards.
