First Security Bank Supports Nora Springs Volunteer Ambulance Service
First Security Bank recently covered the costs associated with purchasing a variety of materials needed to further equip and train the Nora Springs Volunteer Ambulance Service.
Equipment purchased included:
- Evac-U-Split Mattress: A full-body splint which conforms to a patient’s body then is made stiff by vacuuming air out of the substrate. The result is something which stabilizes patients with back injuries and broken hips but is much more comfortable and safer than a flat backboard.
- Laerdal Compact Suction Unit – Medical device used for clearing a patient’s airway, commonly used when CPR is being administered.
- Pagers – Volunteers are required to use specific pagers for dispatch, and two more were needed to cover the entire crew.
- CPR Instructor Materials – All volunteers are CPR-certified and new training materials were necessary to comply with new requirements set by the American Heart Association.
The Nora Springs Volunteer Ambulance Service responds to calls in Nora Springs, Rudd, Rockford, and adjoining rural areas. Providing the above equipment and materials will result in improved patient care and safety for the approximately 4,600 people that reside in these communities. The organization is actively seeking volunteer EMTs. Interested applicants may contact Ambulance Director Dave Luett at servicedirector@nsvas.com.
