Bank Commits Over $350,000 to Community

During 2021, First Security Bank & Trust committed over $350,000 toward community support in the form of donations and sponsorships. These funds have either been distributed or have been reserved for upcoming projects.

The total amount committed for 2021 was $354,323. These funds were split three ways:

  • Funds distributed by First Security Charitable Foundation ($40,685)
  • Funds distributed by First Security Bank ($88,638)
  • Funds set aside for future Foundation donations ($225,000)

Bank donations are typically meant to support community causes, events, fundraisers, annual sponsorships, and similar efforts. Some highlights from 2021 include $20,000 for reconstruction of the Nora Springs athletic fields, $2,500 to purchase air packs to help Ionia firefighters get oxygen while battling fires, $1,000 to purchase whirlpools for clients at Comprehensive Systems in Charles City, $1,000 to plant trees in the Hampton community, $500 to help Floyd County Quilts of Valor create blankets for military veterans, and $6,800 to local high schoolers to help them meet their college bills. First Security also supported parks and recreation sports teams, community festivals, parades, and county fairs as well as school functions, booster clubs, and after proms.

Meanwhile, First Security Charitable Foundation contributions are aimed at larger one-time needs and infrastructure projects. Some of the 2021 contributions from the Foundation include: $25,000 to Rockwell Family Recreation, $10,000 to support the move of Charles City’s historic railroad depot, and $10,000 to the Floyd County Historical Society.

“As a community bank, it’s part of the mission of First Security to support our communities not just through providing the best products and services, but also through direct donations,” said Matt Bradley, Marketing Director. “We love taking part in so many fun and worthwhile projects and events, and we’re honored to play such a vital role.”
