First Security Contributes $5000 Toward Rockwell and Swaledale Public Safety Initiatives
First Security Bank & Trust has contributed $2500 toward two different public safety initiatives.
Last year, the bank donated $2500 to the Rockwell-Swaledale Emergency Medical Team’s CPR Manikin replacement project. At the time of the donation, their manikins were over 10 years old, no longer meeting certification standards. The donation helped to purchase 12 new manikins, which feature a newly required feedback system, ensuring students are performing CPR appropriately during training. The completion of the project not only benefits the EMT and their primary response district, which includes Rockwell, Swaledale, and Dougherty, but also other nearby communities and the students that take free CPR courses offered by the Rockwell Swaledale EMT.
Earlier this year, the bank also contributed $2500 to the Rockwell Community Fire Service Association’s efforts to purchase new fire engine scene lights. The high-intensity LED lights replace halogen lights and are mounted to a telescopic pole on the fire engine. They illuminate the scene of emergency incidents, which can occur during all types of weather and any time of day or night.
“We utilize a combination of handheld flashlights, portable lights, and apparatus mounted scene lights, but by far the most effective tool we have are the high intensity LED lights,” said Adam Wedmore, EMS Director/Assistant Fire Chief. “Because of the donations to our project, we now have a total of four LED scene lights, and our trucks are outfitted to meet our needs for many years to come.”
