First Security Foundation Contributes $2,500 to Thornton Volunteer Fire Association

The First Security Foundation recently contributed $2,500 to the Thornton Volunteer Fire Association’s fundraising efforts for a new ground monitor.

A ground monitor is an important tool for the fire department. Ground monitors, which are essentially heavy-duty nozzles mounted on a base, can deliver high volumes of water from a stable position. It is especially important for volunteer fire departments where personnel may be limited. Because it requires minimal supervision, it allows firefighters to work in other areas of fire suppression or rescue efforts.

“I’m glad we were able to play a small part in helping keep our firefighters well-equipped,” said Randy Bohman, Retail Advisor at First Security’s Thornton branch. “And thank you to the volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to keeping our community safe!”
