Chris Corcoran Promoted from Senior Ag/Commercial Lender to Ag Lending Manager

First Security’s Board of Directors and President/CEO Kurt Herbrechtsmeyer are happy to share that Chris Corcoran, who joined the bank earlier this year as Senior Ag/Commercial Lender, has been promoted to Ag Lending Manager.

Chris, who is originally from Fairbank, Iowa, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University where he studied Agriculture Business and Agriculture Finance. He soon put that degree to use in community banking, an industry he’s been part of for nearly 25 years.

“Chris brings a unique and diverse knowledge base in community banking and possesses a great deal of passion in ag lending,” said Chief Lending Officer Jason Walters. “He aspires to grow our ag lending portfolio and footprint, improve our ag underwriting and analysis, and find innovative specialty lending areas.”

Throughout his career, Chris has focused on agricultural and commercial lending, managing bank investments, funding, and operations. He has demonstrated his commitment to expertise in the field through completing several training opportunities during his career. He has completed the Iowa Bankers Association’s Commercial Lending School and the Iowa School of Banking. He’s also completed several courses offered by Performance Trust University. These were focused on strategic planning and the principles of managing asset and liability decisions across bank balance sheets.

Herbrechtsmeyer said, “Chris has been successful at all levels, including customer-facing roles and in leadership positions determining overall bank strategy. We’re excited to have his depth of experience and perspective as he takes on a leadership position at First Security.”

Walters added, “I am extremely excited that he is taking on this opportunity. I believe we can make a huge impact for our rural, farming communities, and Chris will play a huge part in developing those new channels for our lending team.”

Chris and his family have lived in Waverly, Iowa for the past 5 years.

In addition to his career in banking, Chris operates a small grain farm and is an active volunteer. He is a Board Member of Bremer County Pheasants Forever, the Treasurer for the Redeemer Lutheran Church’s trust fund, and a volunteer coach for youth sports.

Chris and his wife Jessica have three kids – one in elementary school, one in middle school, and one in high school. They are an active family, attending many activities together. Chris particularly enjoys hunting and fishing and always looks forward to summer, when he and his family make frequent trips to the Mississippi River to enjoy the outdoors.
