Senior Ag/Commercial Lender John Paulus Announces Retirement
After a finance career spanning 35 years, Senior Ag/Commercial Lender John Paulus will retire on September 3rd.
John began his career in 1990 at Farmers Home, a division of the United States Division of Agriculture, which is now known as the Farm Service Agency. In 1993, he joined First Security Bank as an Ag/Commercial Lender. Throughout his lending career, he has supported customers in Aredale, Charles City, Dumont, Ionia, Marble Rock, Rockford, and Rockwell. Although he’s been based in the bank’s Rockford branch since 2011, he has continued to support customers, particularly ag customers, throughout First Security’s footprint.
When asked about the most rewarding part of his career, John said, “Seeing young farmers succeed.”
“I’ve had the good fortune to work alongside John for the full 32 years that he has been with First Security Bank,” said Chief Operating Officer Randy Hassman. “John is known for his great sense of humor, his knowledge of the ag lending field, and his loyalty to his customers and the bank. He will be missed by customers and coworkers alike, and I want to wish him the best in his retirement.”
Chairman of the Board Kurt Herbrechtsmeyer agreed, saying “John developed many strong relationships with customers, our staff, and the communities he served over the years.”
After retirement, John plans to spend his well-earned free time with family, working on some home projects, and golfing more.
Herbrechtsmeyer added, “A lot of people will miss him. At least those who don’t play golf.”
