Multi-Factor Authentication Coming May 2nd!
What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
MFA or "two-step verification" is a more secure method of accessing online accounts. This includes online and mobile banking. Essentially, after inputting your username and password, you'll be asked to verify your identity with a second step.
How Will it Work at First Security?
Every customer is prompted to input a phone number in their online or mobile banking app that they'd like to use for MFA. A verification code will get sent to the phone number you listed whenever you try to access online or mobile banking from a new device or web browser.
Why is it Important?
It significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access to your accounts. Unfortunately, sometimes scammers are able to guess or access usernames and passwords through sophisticated techniques. By requiring additional verification, it is much harder for attackers to gain access to your private information!
You have likely used MFA for other types of accounts. However, if it's unfamiliar to you, please review the two videos below to see how it'll work for both online and mobile banking.
