First Security Announces Zach Mitchell as Assistant Vice President, Ag/Commercial Lender

First Security is happy to announce that Zach Mitchell has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Ag/Commercial Lender. In this role, he’ll help local farmers and business owners access financing they need to grow and succeed. The job requires the ability to build strong relationships and an understanding of each customer’s operation. While he’ll be located in the bank’s Rockford branch, his customer base extends far beyond that.

“The best part of this job is the ability to help customers achieve their goals,” said Zach. “My previous agriculture and banking experience as well as my local roots have helped me build a larger understanding for the ag community in our area. I look forward to using that background to support my customers.”

Chief Lending Officer Scott Smitts added, “Zach truly understands how to bring value to each customer relationship. He has a wonderful demeanor with clients and is an ambitious individual who consistently takes on new projects to support the department.”

Zach joined First Security in 2023 in a supervisory role for the Portfolio Managers in the ag/commercial lending department. He had joined the bank with a degree in Agricultural Business from Iowa State University and prior experience as an agronomist and ag lender. Since starting his career in banking, he has also completed the Iowa Bankers Association’s Agricultural Credit School.

When not at work, Zach enjoys spending time with his soon-to-be wife Lindsay and their dog Nellie. He’s also an avid golfer and volunteer for the Lion’s Club.
